Has this ever happened to you? You stumble across a comic book character you’re not familair with and you think, “Wow. What a cool character design.” Then you read up on them and they sound like a really fascinating character. You wonder what title they might currently be in so you can check it out, only to find out, they’re dead.
I was poking around and came across Phyla-Vell (aka. Captain Marvel, Quasar, Martyr). I thought all the things I stated above and was irritaed to find out she’s dead. I was also irritated to find out she’s gay and dead. I’m not saying they’re connected. I just hate to see compelling characters killed off (especially when they’re in a lesbian relationship with a woman who’s a dragon).
Now, I know what you’re saying, “It’s comics. No one stays dead.” Maybe, but that’s not always true. Plus, she was a member of Guardians of the Galaxy. It would’ve been a good opportunity to have a LGBT character in a Marvel movie.
So, I guess what I’m saying is, someone bring back Phyla-Vell! I’m looking at you Brian Bendis or Kelly Sue DeConnick. She’d be great in Captain Marvel!
Now that Carol’s in space she could totally show up in Captain Marvel, I second that.
This is an old comic for the school paper that didn’t end up getting used.
D&D still confuses me, but the other day my character learned Claws of the Bear, and that’s enough to keep me interested.
